Academic Mentorship

Top UK mentors teach you the subject.
Top UK professors shape your strategy.

Subject mentorship with active top UK PhDs. Planning and interview prep with senior academics who’ve sat on admissions panels. No middlemen — you work directly with the people doing the research.

What we do

Two services. One platform.

Grade improvement
Tier 2 / 3 · active PhDs & postdocs

One-to-one teaching for the subjects on your application — by someone currently active in their field, not a former student teaching on the side.

  • GCSE & A-level grade improvement
  • A-Level / IB / AP / Pre-U — sciences & quantitative
  • 60 or 90-minute sessions, online or in London
Book mentoring
Planning & interviews
Tier 4 · senior academics

From the subjects you pick at GCSE to the interview at the end — guided by a senior academic who’s read these applications from the other side of the table.

  • Subject choice — which A-levels to take
  • Academic planning
  • Personal statement
  • University shortlist
  • Interview preparation
Book planning

Book either, or both. Students who come for planning often add subject mentorship; those who come for mentorship tend to pick up some planning before submission. We don’t push either combination — we tell you what matches what you actually need.

Who’s actually teaching you

Three tiers, set by academic standing — not marketing.

Tier 2

Active PhD researchers

Currently doing a PhD at a top UK university — working in the subject every day, and sat the same exams only a few years ago. Match this tier if you’re working through A-Level, IB or AP material and want a mentor close to the exam.

Tier 3

Active postdocs

Finished a PhD at a top UK university and now running independent research. They teach with more context: how topics connect, where exam questions come from, what universities want. Match this tier for harder material, Olympiad prep, or stretching beyond the syllabus.

Tier 4

Senior academics

Faculty members, former admissions panellists, research group leaders. They take planning and interview cases — subject choice, academic planning, personal statement, university shortlist, interview prep. They’ve read the applications you’re about to send.

A mentor’s tier is set by academic standing — and you can confirm it, along with who they are, before you commit.

Standard packages

Bought by the session — the more you commit, the better the rate.

10sessions

A focused block for a single exam push or a defined goal.

30sessions

A term’s worth of steady work.

50sessions

Sustained mentorship across the year.

Each mentor sets their own rate, by academic standing rather than session-by-session haggling — so the exact figures depend on who you work with. Longer packages carry a larger discount, and single-session booking is available too.

Pricing & FAQ

The honest answers.

Pricing

Each mentor sets their own rate, reflecting academic standing rather than a session-by-session negotiation. Packages bundle 10, 30 or 50 sessions at a discount that grows with size. Single-session booking is available too.

Do you guarantee offers?

We don’t guarantee offers — no honest agency can. What we can tell you is that students who’ve worked with us have gone on to Oxford, Cambridge and Imperial. Track record is not the same as a promise.

How do you match me with a mentor?

We don’t auto-match. After you book, our admin team looks at the subjects you’ve listed, your level, and any preferences (teaching style, scheduling, language). We propose one mentor — you can accept, ask for an alternative, or trial a session before committing further.

What if I want to change mentors mid-package?

Tell us. We’ll switch you. No penalty, no awkward conversation — we treat mentor fit as a service quality issue, not a customer problem.

Online or in-person?

Both. Online is the default — it lets you work with any mentor regardless of location. In-person is available in central London at an agreed venue, with a small location surcharge.

Are these the same mentors who teach in your Lab Immersion / Seminar programmes?

Often, yes. The Tier 3 and Tier 4 mentors who run our 2-day Lab Immersion or 10-day Seminar also take one-to-one mentorship. Their profile lists everything they currently offer.

Can I see who you actually are?

Wisesprout is built by working scientists at top UK universities, across the sciences and medicine. Your mentor is a named, active academic — we tell you exactly who you’d be working with before you commit, and you can speak to them first.

For researchers

Do research? Teach on your own terms.

Wisesprout is built by active researchers, for active researchers — PhDs, postdocs and academics who want to teach, and keep the value of their teaching. No agency taking a cut.
